Assessments

Anger Management Evaluations

Anger Management Evaluations are comprehensive assessments of an individual's anger management skills and potential for change. They take into account a person's history and current symptoms to find the cause(s) of problematic anger and identify specific deficiencies that contribute to anger issues. The evaluation also looks at stress management skills and empathy. These evaluations involve a one-on-one interview with our therapist, questionnaires to assess aspects of anger, and the use of standardized anger scales. Based on your results, our therapist may recommend counseling sessions to help assist with proper coping mechanisms.

Adult ADHD and Autism Assessments

OPTION 1: NEURO-SCREENING

No diagnosis provided.

  • The screening consists of questions regarding your traits, history, and challenges only in relation to ADHD and autism.

  • A quick review of your information is compared to DSM-5 -TR diagnostic criteria.

  • There is typically no waiting time for the screening report.

  • Our therapist will discuss her findings and advise whether continuing with the diagnostic assessment (Option 2) is warranted.

OPTION 2: COMPREHENSIVE CLINICAL ASSESSMENT (CCA)

Formal diagnosis, comprehensive report, and personalized recommendations provided.

  • The CCA  consists of questions regarding your traits, history, and challenges beyond just those thought to be related to neurodivergence.

  •  A thorough review of your information is cross-examined with common misdiagnoses and then compared to DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria.

  • A  comprehensive diagnostic report based on the data acquired during the assessment process is completed and a copy is provided to you.

  • The wait time for the diagnostic report ranges from 1 – 3 weeks.

Structured Clinical Interviews

The Structured Clinical Interview for Personality Disorders (SCID-5-PD) is a structured clinical interview used to diagnose the 10 personality disorders listed in the DSM-5. The SCID-5-PD assessment is designed for individuals where there is a suspected presence of personality disorders, which could include clinical populations like psychiatric patients, individuals presenting with personality disorder symptoms, or any adult where a comprehensive assessment of personality functioning is needed.

The Structured Clinical Interview for Dissociative Disorders (SCID-D) is a structured clinical interview for assessing dissociative symptoms and disorders in adults and adolescents. It is based on  Dr. Steinberg's innovative Five Component Model of Dissociation  Assessment (amnesia, depersonalization, derealization, identity confusion, and identity alteration). The interview has demonstrated a powerful ability to distinguish individuals with dissociative symptoms and disorders from those with other conditions and is widely regarded as the gold standard in the field.

Child Forensic Interviews

Forensic interviewing is a means of gathering information from an alleged victim or witness to help determine what may or may not have occurred, and it is a key component of many child protective services and criminal investigations. The purpose of a child forensic interview is to gather factual information in a legally defensible and developmentally appropriate manner about whether a child has been maltreated. Our therapist is a Registered Child Forensic Interviewer who takes a child-centered approach. Therefore, she adapts her questioning techniques to suit the child's age, developmental level, and communication skills.

Psychosexual Evaluations

Psychosexual evaluations are assessments that focus on an individual’s sexual development,  sexual history, paraphilic interests, sexual adjustment, risk level, and victimology. Some components include objective measures such as sexual interest tests or other psychological testing.  It also includes a full social history, familial history,  employment/school history, case formulation, and specific treatment recommendations. The assessment greatly assists attorneys and courts  (prior to sentencing for adults), foster care, and social service agencies that work with adults who have engaged in illegal or dangerous sexual behavior, sexually reactive children, or adolescents who have engaged in problem sexual behavior.

Prior to the assessment, our office will need the following documents:

  • Official legal documents such as Presentence Reports, Police Reports, Forensic Interview Reports, and any other court related documents.

  • If this is a family court case, we require that we are appointed by the court to complete the evaluation. A minute entry document is required that establishes court appointment.

  • Any other previous evaluation reports.

  • Treatment notes/reports if applicable.

  • No Surprises Act
